17.12.2011» Sevilla 2-6 Real Madrid. Déjà vu? Ronaldo answers critics with hat-trick
"Déjà vu?" The French expression fits perfectly when describing tonight's match, as Real Madrid repeated the exact score from last season in the Sánchez Pizjuan, after beating Sevilla by 2-6. After a week of many critics, Cristiano Ronaldo gave his answer on the field and scored his 5th hat-trick of the season. Callejón and Di María scored the remaining goals for the Merengues, while Jesús Navas and Álvaro Negredo shortened the difference in the scoreline.

Sevilla 2-6 Real Madrid goals and highlights:
No one was certainly expecting the same scoreline as last season and Sevilla stepped up to this match with a very aggressive attitude, putting a lot of intensity in their game. José Mourinho surprised everyone and left Ozil and Kaká on the bench, in order to place Callejón on the line-up. Angel Di María was assigned with a more central position and the Argentinian proved to be a valid choice for that spot as well.
Despite a better start from Sevilla, Real Madrid would reach an early goal in the 10th minute, after a great assist by Angel Di María to Cristiano Ronaldo, who finished it with class. Sevilla reacted very well to the setback and kept challenging the Merengues, by creating several good goalscoring chances. However, Real Madrid captain, Iker Casillas, showed why he is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the World and had a couple of brilliant saves that allowed his team to keep the lead. The Merengues were aware that Sevilla's pressure could end in a goal anytime soon, but Callejón would extend the lead near the 37th minute, after another great pass by Di María.
Truth has to be said, as the two goal lead was already seeming a bit unfair at that point, in a game where Sevilla had been very close to the goal in several occasions. But everyone knows how "cynical" and deadly this Real Madrid team can be, so there was still a third goal reserved and before half-time. The one and only, Cristiano Ronaldo, was granted with some space near Sevilla's area and the Portuguese player didn't ask for permission to blast a powerful and brilliant strike that would only end in the back of the net. Real Madrid reached half-time with an unexpected 0-3 lead, but not before seeing Pepe being sent off, after receiving a 2nd yellow card in the 45th minute.
With one man up and having in mind what troubles the home team managed to create in the 1st half, one would expect Sevilla to cause a great impression over the 2nd half. However, the Merengues showed a good and compact organization and repelled most of the opponents attacking intentions. Around the 66th minute, Angel Di María got assisted by Benzema and also wrote his name in the scoresheet, by finishing the play with the outside part of his foot. Sevilla had an answer prepared right away and reduced to 1-4 just 3 minutes later, after a cross shot from the Spanish winger, Jesús Navas.
The match kept being disputed with a lot of intensity and around the 74th time, things got levelled up, as it was time for Sevilla to be forced to play with 10 men as well, after Manu del Moral got shown a straight red card. The last minutes of the game were prone in goals and Cristiano Ronaldo would still complete his hat-trick and score the 1-5 from the penalty kick spot. Altintop wouldn't miss his chance from an easy tap-in and scored the sixth goal for the Merengues in the Sánchez Pizjuan, just a few minutes later. Álvaro Negredo scored the last goal of night in added time, setting the final score in 2-6, but the game had already been decided long ago.
Regarding the history book records, Cristiano Ronaldo achieved another important mark as he reached his 87th goal for Real Madrid in the Spanish "La Liga", leaving behind one of the club's legends, Juanito. With last night's hat-trick against Sevilla, Ronaldo now has 20 goals in La Liga's Pichichi standings this season, while Barcelona's Lionel Messi remains with 17 in the 2nd place and Gonzalo Higuaín with 12 in the 3rd spot.
