17.10.2011 » Gonzalo Higuaín: "It's a great honor to play with Cristiano Ronaldo"

Cristiano Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuaín friendship relationship, similing in Real Madrid 2011-2012

Gonzalo Higuaín is back to his best days, as the Argentinian forward has been on fire on his last matches, with 3 hat-tricks in 4 games. Higuaín talked with a German media called "Spox" and assumed that it is a big honor to have the chance to play in the same team as Cristiano Ronaldo.

Gonzalo Higuaín recently spoke with "Spox", a German newspaper, in order to approach a few topics related to his career and his club, Real Madrid. Even though a few rumors have been suggesting that Higuaín and Cristiano Ronaldo don't get along very well, the Argentinian categorically denied them, by saying that it is a great honor to be granted the chance to play with Cristiano Ronaldo in the same team and club.

However, Higuaín has also confessed his admiration for the other Ronaldo, the Brazilian one, when asked to share his oppinion on who has been the best striker in the World so far. Higuaín: "That's a tough question. There are have been plenty of great forwards in the game, but I can say I have a special admiration for Ronaldo ("Fenómeno", the Brazilian one)." A slightly surprising answer came when the journalist asked Higuaín to point out who is the best free-kick taker in the World these days, as the Argentinian not only picked any of his teammates in Real Madrid and the Argentina National Team, but decided to cast his vote on Barcelona's former player, Ronaldinho.

Watch a Real Madrid video, starring Cristiano Ronaldo and Higuaín:

Higuaín: "Ronaldinho takes free-kicks extremely well and I remember several great goals scored by him, from set-pieces. However, if you ask me for the greatest free-kick taker of all-time, I'm afraid I can't pick one, because there have been so many exceptional specialists..." The small surprise, as you probably immediatly realized, comes from the fact that Higuaín could have gone for a "politically correct answer", by picking Cristiano Ronaldo (his teammate in Real Madrid), or even Lionel Messi/Riquelme (Argentina), but he showed he has no problems in expressing his true beliefs. This somehow lends credibility to what he said just after...

Denying all those rumors that keep suggesting that Cristiano Ronaldo and Higuaín could be fighting and unhappy with each other, the Argentinian spoke out and was keen to stress that it is a great honor to have the chance to play with Cristiano Ronaldo in the same team. Higuaín: "It's a true honor to play in the same team as Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as other world-class football players in Real Madrid. Every time I step on the pitch side by side with such talented footballers, I thank God and I remember what a big privilege it is. When you get surrounded by this kind of players, you can learn a lot and also turn better."
