Ronaldo's best moments at Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo biting his champions league medal for Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo played a total of 6 seasons for Manchester United in his first spell for the club, leaving the Red Devils at the age of 24. During this time, the Portuguese icon left his mark in the Premier League like very few other players have been able to...

When he moved to Manchester United in 2003 for his first spell at the English club, Cristiano Ronaldo was a name that not many football fans had heard of. However, it did not take him long to become one of the best footballers in the world and Premier League fans had the chance to witness how a true football legend was forged at Old Trafford, at the hands of Sir Alex Ferguson...

CR7 played 346 games for Manchester United, scoring 145 goals. Here is a look at his best moments at the club...

Cristiano Ronaldo - The Man United story:

First Premier League Title Success in 2007

Ronaldo won his first Premier League title in the 2006/07 campaign. It arrived following his fourth season at the club. He played a significant role in helping United overcome their rivals, as he scored 17 goals in the league.

United, who are currently 20/1 in the Premier League title odds this season, are now going through a spell similar to what Ronaldo encountered when he joined the club. They will be hoping to uncover a player who can bring them back to title challengers, just as the Portuguese international did in the 2006/07 season.

Those looking to place a football bet on the Premier League title this year will notice Manchester City are the 13/10 favourites to defend their crown. Ronaldo was able to end Arsenal and Chelsea's grip on the title in 2007. The latest batch of Manchester United players must now stop their local rivals' dominance.

Maiden Ballon d'Or Title in 2008

The 2007/08 season was where Ronaldo went from star to superstar. He scored 42 goals in all competitions, helping United win the Premier League and Champions League. At the end of 2008, he was handed the Ballon d'Or Award.

Ronaldo became the first Premier League player since Michael Owen in 2001 to win the prestigious individual award. He is one of only six players in history to win the trophy whilst playing his football in England.

His performance in 2007/08 led to Real Madrid stepping up their interest in the forward. It was later revealed that Ferguson gave his word to Ronaldo that he would sanction a move for him to the Spanish giants in the summer of 2009.

Goal in the Manchester Derby at Old Trafford

In his farewell season at Manchester United, Ronaldo once again played a key role in helping the club reach the Champions League final. He scored 26 goals in all competitions, including four goals in the premier European competition.

Unfortunately for Ronaldo, United were beaten by Barcelona 2-0 in the final at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. That proved to be a tough loss to stomach for the Ballon d'Or winner, as he was desperate to finish his United career on a high.

Before leaving for Madrid, Ronaldo did give Manchester United fans a parting gift, as he scored a free kick in the Manchester Derby at Old Trafford. It was a stunning strike to defeat United's rivals and win the game for his side.

Ronaldo is sure to look back at his Manchester United career and the above moments with great fondness, as it was the club that allowed him to develop into one of the best players in the world.
