20.08.2021 » Ronaldo responds to rumors about leaving Juventus

Cristiano Ronaldo looking for answers on the sky

It's been quite an active summer in terms of transfer rumors, in particular for Cristiano Ronaldo. Even the Portuguese superstar still has one year left in his contract, many news outlets have been suggesting that the 36-year old could leave Italy very soon...

Cristiano Ronaldo has broken the silence over the many transfer rumors swirling and has basically asked outlets to put some respect on his name, having posted on social media that he "can't allow people to keep playing around with my name." The Portuguese superstar has been linked with a return to former club Real Madrid, with French side Paris Saint-Germain also reported to be a possible destination. Various outlets have indicated that the player would like to return to Madrid but is open to signing for PSG should Los Blancos land France striker Kylian Mbappe. Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport also reported Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes has offered him to Manchester City while there’s also talk of a potential return to his first professional club Sporting CP.

Cristiano Ronaldo - Does he actually want to leave Juventus?:

Ronaldo reacts...

Ronaldo, a four-time Champions League winner with Madrid, has opted to speak up on the back of the many rumors, branding them disrespectful while insisting his story at Real Madrid is over.

"More than the disrespect for me as a man and as a player, the frivolous way that my future is covered in the media is disrespectful to all the clubs involved in these rumors, as well as to their players and staff," the goal-happy forward wrote as part of an Instagram post this week.

"My story at Real Madrid has been written. It's been recorded. In words and numbers, in trophies and titles, in records and in headlines. It's in the Museum at the Bernabéu Stadium and it's also in the minds of every fan of the club."

"And beyond what I achieved, I remember that in those nine years I had a relationship of deep affection and respect for 'merengue afición,' an affection and respect that I retain to this day, and that I will always cherish."

"I know that the true Real Madrid fans will continue to have me in their hearts, and I will have them in mine."

Carlo Ancelotti, who returned to the coaching job at Madrid after spending last season in the Premier League with Everton, took to Twitter on Tuesday with claims he has never considered signing Ronaldo. The coach and player shared a great relationship during Carlo's first spell at the Bernabéu and they combined to help win the club its 10th Champions League title, La Decima, in 2014.

"Cristiano is a Real Madrid legend and he has all my love and respect," the Italian manager wrote on Twitter. "I have never considered signing him. We look forward."

A good year...

Ronaldo is coming off a good summer on a personal front, having gotten himself tied with Iran's Ali Daei on 109 international goals during Euro 2020. Portugal was unsuccessful in their defense attempt following their triumph at the Championships in 2016, as Italy went on to crown themselves champions of Europe.

At club level, Ronaldo has seen success in the Champions League, winning both at Manchester United and at Real but, ever since his switch to Juventus in 2018, has been unable to get back to the final. He won the Serie A title at the first time of asking, which came as no surprise given Juve's dominance in Italy over the last decade but the Bianconeri would finish fourth in the league last season as Inter Milan broke their stranglehold to lift the Scudetto under Antonio Conte.

Reestablishing the dominance in Italy

Romelu Lukaku was the key man for the Nerrazurri, firing the club to the league title with 24 goals. The Belgian striker has since returned to Chelsea, the club he joined as a youngster 10 years ago before moves to Everton, Man United, and Inter.

Ronaldo and Juve will have an easier time vying to reclaim the Scudetto, with Inter losing Lukaku, and claims to be focused on his career. It will be interesting to see how the race will play out and odds could be had from Intertops betting on such futures.

"As well as this most recent episode in Spain, there have been frequent news and stories associating me with a number of clubs in many different Leagues, with nobody ever being concerned about trying to find out the actual truth," he continued.

"I'm breaking my silence now to say that I can't allow people to keep playing around with my name. I remain focused on my career and in my work, committed and prepared for all the challenges that I have to face. Everything else? Everything else is just talk."

One year left in Ronaldo's contract

The former Real forward still has another year left on his deal with the Turin-based outfit and the club has no intentions of letting him leave.

"He's the best in the world and we're holding on to him," Fabio Paratici, former Juve managing director now employed at Tottenham Hotspur said back in March.

"Some seasons go better than others, but the word transition doesn't exist. Seasons are important even if they're about growth that yields results in the subsequent years."

While he wasn't able to fire Juventus to the Scudetto this year, Ronaldo still led the Italian Serie A in scoring with 29 goals. Juventus will be quite pleased he isn't looking to leave.
