Cristiano Ronaldo favorite to win the EURO 2020 Golden Boot

Cristiano Ronaldo has never been the top scorer of a big tournament, but seeing how he scored a brace in his EURO 2020 debut game against Hungary, it's obvious he has now become the top favorite to win the Golden Boot...

The first round of fixtures of the EURO 2020 was completed earlier this week and after seeing everyone in action, it doesn't look like we're going to be surprised with the names of the players that, according to these betting sites, are currently the odds favorites to win this tournament's Golden Boot. Cristiano Ronaldo, from Portugal, leads the charts after having already scored 2 goals in a single game. Belgium's Romelu Lukaku follows right behind him, even though the 28-year old striker already participated in 2 games in order to score the same amount of goals. Ciro Immobile from Italy comes third at this point, after also having scored 2 goals in 2 games for his country, while France's Kylian Mbappé snatches the fourth place, even though he is yet to score in this tournament...

Cristiano Ronaldo - Incredible moments with Portugal:

Cristiano Ronaldo

After scoring a total of 3 goals in his EURO 2016 campaign, Ronaldo is more motivated than ever to leave his mark in a big tournament like the European Championship. His two goals against Hungary will certainly help him chasing a feat he has never achieved before, which is reaching the end of a competition like this as the undisputed top scorer. Right now, he seems to have the odds in his favor, but all eyes are Portugal upcoming fixtures in the popular "Group of Death", as the Seleção will battle off against Germany and France.

Ronaldo is not known for running away from challenges and even though he is currently 36 years old, he is still Portugal's biggest threat when it comes to scoring. The reigning European champions are expected to go through into the knockout stages, which means Ronaldo will still have at least 3 more games in the tournament in order to boost his scoring record. If Portugal reaches the final, then he still has 6 games ahead of him...

Romelu Lukaku

One of the most in-form attackers in this EURO 2020 is Romelu Lukaku. The Belgium forward had a great season with Inter Milan, helping the Nerazzurri clinching the Serie A title by scoring 24 goals in 36 appearances for the club. His goal scoring record for Belgium is quite impressive as well, as he already scored 62 goals in 95 caps for the Red Devils.

He started this year's European Championship on a high note, scoring a double against Russia and helping Belgium collecting their first 3 points of the tournament. Even though he didn't score in his second appearance in this Euro, he still had a great impact in the game and it was always looking like he could score at any time. With Belgium already safe to advance to the knockout stages, Lukaku should have plenty more chances to score in the upcoming days.

Ciro Immobile

The 31-year old forward has been a pleasant surprise in Italy's campaign in the EURO 2020 so far, having scored a goal in each of their first two games in Group A. He has proven his talent season after season while playing for Lazio in the Serie A, where he already scored 123 goals in 177 appearances for the Biancocelesti. However, he's still looking to establish himself as his nation's top striker at an international level and this European Championship will surely be his ultimate trial to prove his value to Italian fans...

Italy has been one of the most solid teams in the tournament so far and after earning two easy wins in their first two games, there's a great chance we might see them going far in the competition.

Kylian Mbappe

Unlike the previous 3 players we mentioned before, Kylian Mbappé is yet to make the back of the net shake the right way in the EURO 2020, as France only completed their debut game so far and their only goal ended up being an own-goal against Germany. Nevertheless, many believe that the PSG striker is still warming up and that once he starts scoring, he will quite simply become unstoppable.

At the age of 22, Mbappé has already earned 44 caps for France and scored a total of 17 goals. This is his first European Championship and he already looks matured enough to handle the pressure of a competition like this. The French team is also looking stronger than ever and unless something really extraordinaire happens in the upcoming weeks, we should see them going all the way to the final.
