27.02.2021 » Hellas 1-1 Juventus. Ronaldo scores but Juve drops 2 points
Juventus disappointed again in the Serie A, this time a their trip to Verona where they they faced Hellas and couldn't go beyond a 1-1 draw. The Italian champions are not being able to be consistent in their performances this season and they are now 10 points behind the league leaders, Inter Milan, despite still having one game in hand. Tonight, the Bianconeri managed to grab the first lead when Cristiano Ronaldo finished off a great assist from Chiesa and at that point, everything was going Juve's way. However and in case you were watching the game from a live stream in Finland on this site, you could see how the hosts were determined in putting a good fight and reaching the equalizer. Eventually they would get it in the 77th minute, when Antonin Barak's header hit the back of the net...

All Cristiano Ronaldo actions vs Hellas:
No goals scored in the first half...
Both Inter and Milan were certainly happy to see Juventus dropping points against Hellas, as it allowed them to increase the gap to the 3rd place and shrink the Italian champions' hopes of renewing their Serie A title. Not only that, but the chase for the 3rd place is also dangerous for Andrea Pirlo's men at this point, with Atalanta, AS Roma, Napoli and Lazio all sitting behind at a distance of 3 points or less.
We had a goalless first half in Verona this Saturday, with Juventus creating more chances than their opponent but not finding the path to goal. Ramsey was the first player on the pitch getting close to score, but he ended up seeing his shot deflected and going wide. Hellas responded shortly after also with a great chance to break the deadlock, when a corner-kick led to a great header from Faraoni on the near post, which got stopped by a great save from Szczesny.
With Cuadrado, Paulo Dybala and Morata still injured, Pirlo relied on an attacking partnership formed by Dejan Kulusevski, Federico Chiesa and Cristiano Ronaldo, but had no one on the bench who could really step up in case he wanted to shake things up. That probably explains why the Italian manager only made his first substitution in the 68th minute, when he replaced Ramsey for the North-American Weston McKennie.
Ronaldo's goal was not enough to secure the win...
The second half couldn't have started better for the Bianconeri, after a great team play orchestrated by Ramsey, Chiesa and of course, Cristiano Ronaldo. The Welsh midfielder looked for a breach in the center of the pitch and found Chiesa with space already inside Hellas' box, leaving his teammate with only one defender in front of him. Nevertheless, the former Fiorentina star wasn't selfish at all and with a pass to his right he allowed Cristiano Ronaldo to shoot from a good spot without anyone close to him and when that happens, the ball usually only stops on the back of the net. That was Ronaldo's 19th goal in the Serie A this season and his 26th goal in all competitions.
Juventus' first mistake after the goal was to track back on the pitch, which gave Hellas the opportunity to attack a lot more and create the scoring chances they needed to eventually score. The moment the Bianconeri feared the most happened in the 77th minute, when a perfect cross from Lazovic found Antonin Barak's head inside Juventus box. The Czech midfielder beat Alex Sandro in the air and gave no chances to Szczesny in goal, who was unable to react as the ball went in past him. With the 1-1 on the scoreline and Hellas' confidence skyrocketing, Juventus had a difficult mission ahead.
The final minutes of the game showed us a Hellas Verona side more comfortable on the pitch and a Juventus team unable to press high and get in positions to score. The 1-1 result remained until the end, meaning that the Italian champions have lost all margin for errors from now on and any further setbacks will probably mean that the title will be lost.
