23.08.2020 » What challenges lie ahead for Ronaldo next season?

Cristiano Ronaldo never stops scoring

The 2019-20 season is finally over and it obviously look a bit longer than usual due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The new season will kickoff in Italy in September and Ronaldo will have multiple challenges in front of him...

It's a turn of the page for Juventus this summer, as the Italian giants prepare the new season with a lot of changes in mind, starting with a new coach, the former player and club legend, Andrea Pirlo. The Bianconeri, who fell short and away from silverware in Europe for yet another year, are preparing a new project for the team, which will depend on many new signings and a more attacking footballing style capable of delivering the much necessary results in the bigger games of the UEFA Champions League. Can they do it with the confidence that a professional gambler usually brings when he steps into an online casino like Goldenslot to beat the machines? Cristiano Ronaldo, of course, is expected to play a crucial role in Pirlo's new puzzle, as the Vecchia Signora still believe the Portuguese man is the right person to lead them to European glory.

Cristiano Ronaldo - Skills and goals in 2020:

The domestic challenges...

Winning the Serie A has become almost a routine for a club like Juventus and having Cristiano Ronaldo in their ranks hasn't changed anything in regards to this particular habit. The Bianconeri have won the the Serie A title in the last 9 consecutive years and everyone in Turin will certainly demand one more trophy in the upcoming season. The challenge, however, could be bigger than the one they faced in recent years, as Inter Milan appears to have finally found the right track to build a solid and competitive team, capable of fighting for the title with the Vecchia Signora.

In Cristiano Ronaldo's case, the motivation will be on top not only to win the league title for his 3rd year in a row, but also to attempt finishing the season as the Serie A top scorer, something which he hasn't been able to accomplish in his first two years in Italy. In his first year, he saw Fabio Quagliarella snatching the trophy after scoring 26 goals (5 more than Ronaldo, who finished in 4th place) and this year the story wasn't that much different, except the top scorer was Ciro Immobile with 36 goals and Ronaldo finished right behind him with 31 goals.

Lastly, there's still one important trophy Ronaldo has been missing since he landed in Turin and that's the Coppa Italia. In his debut year, Juventus fell to Atalanta in the quarter-finals of the competition, after losing 3-0 in Bergamo. This season, the Italian champions managed to reach the competition's final, but they couldn't beat Napoli in the decisive game, handing the Roman side the trophy after a disappointing penalty shootout.

The Champions League

It's no secret to anyone that winning the Champions League has become almost an obsession for clubs like PSG or Manchester City. A lot of money has been invested over the last years, but for one reason or another, the competition has only been won by 5 different clubs in the last 10 years: Barcelona, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Liverpool. Other clubs, like Juventus, have been very close to get their hands on the much-coveted football trophy in the whole Europe, but have lost in the competition's final game in multiple occasions.

The Vecchia Signora already won the Champions League twice in the past (1985 and 1996), but have lost in the final in 7 different editions of the competition. The decision of signing Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer of 2018 was clearly to improve the club's chances of becoming the kings of Europe for the 3rd time in their history, but so far, the best Juve has done was reaching the quarter-finals in 2019 and losing to Ajax. This season, the Bianconeri fell short again, but this time to a French side, Olympique Lyon.

Cristiano Ronaldo certainly knows what it takes to win a competition like the Champions League as he has done it 5 times throughout his career. The first one with Manchester United in 2008, and the other 4 with Real Madrid (2014, 2016, 2017, 2018). With Pirlo at the helm this next season, Ronaldo's input in terms of how the team should approach the decisive games of a competition like the Champions League could turn out to be vital. There's no doubt that winning "La Orejona" is going to be the main goal for both Juventus and Cristiano Ronaldo in 2021.
