27.02.2020 » Juventus fancied to put a dent in Inter Milan's title hopes

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lukaku in Juventus vs Inter for the Serie A

Unlike in previous years, the Serie A title race looks very interesting this season, with Juventus, Inter and Lazio all dreaming with lifting the trophy in May. The Bianconeri are still the favorites to finish first in the league, but Lazio and Inter will certainly fight until the end...

Juventus will host Inter Milan on Sunday, in a game that could have a huge bearing on both teams' chances of winning the title in Italy this season. Juve are currently top of the Serie A table with 60 points, just one point in front of Lazio and with Inter a further five points adrift in third place. However, the Nerazzurri do have a game in hand on both their rivals and a victory this weekend would put a different slant on the title race. The last time Inter won the title in Italy was back in the 2009-10 season, during José Mourinho spell at the club. As for Lazio, they've only won the Scudetto twice and the last time that happened was two decades ago, in the 1999-2000 season.

Juve still in pole position

Juve have overcome a mini-wobble to keep themselves on course to win their ninth successive title in Serie A. Away defeats at Napoli and Hellas Verona allowed Lazio to close the gap, but victories over Brescia and SPAL have steadied the ship for Juve. They are unbeaten in their last six league outings against Inter and will fancy their chances of enhancing that record this weekend.

Juventus will surely be roared on by a huge crowd at the Allianz Stadium, with fans using sites like https://seatpick.com/ to grab their ticket for this eagerly anticipated fixture.

Inter desperate to bounce back

Inter's title hopes suffered a major blow two weeks ago, as Lazio recovered from a goal down to secure an important 2-1 victory. That result ended a 16-game unbeaten run for Inter in the league and they can ill-afford another defeat this weekend. Taking a point from the game wouldn't be a disaster for Inter, particularly with Juve and Lazio still to face each other later in the season.

Participation in the Europa League on Thursday evening could be an issue for Inter, with Juventus having the advantage of an extra day to recover from their UEFA Champions League exertions. A victory for Juve would give them a nine-point cushion over Inter, highlighting the importance of this weekend's game...

Cristiano Ronaldo worried in Juve

Ronaldo the key to Juve's hopes

Cristiano Ronaldo has been in stunning form for Juve over the past few months, bagging an incredible 16 goals in his last 11 league appearances. Only Gabriel Batistuta and Fabio Quagliarella have previously scored in 11 consecutive Serie A games and Ronaldo will be going all out to make it 12-in-a-row against Inter. He drew a blank at Lyon in the Champions League in midweek and will be eager to make his mark once again this weekend.

The 35-year-old still appears to be at the peak of his powers, with 25 goals in 31 appearances in all competitions this term a testament to his continued brilliance. With a one point lead and both their title rivals still to visit the Allianz, the Serie A title race is very much Juve's to lose and with Ronaldo in their ranks, they are worth favourites to claim top spot once again...
