22.02.2020 » SPAL 1-2 Juventus. Ronaldo and Ramsey secured the win!

Cristiano Ronaldo, Ramsey and Cuadrado in Juventus win

Juventus earned the 3 points in their trip to SPAL this Saturday's afternoon, beating their opponents by 2-1 and securing the top spot in the Serie A table for at least another week. Cristiano Ronaldo and Aaron Ramsey scored a goal each for the Bianconeri...

Every point is crucial at this stage of the title race and today's 3 points were not an exception for Juventus. The Italian champions visited the Stadio Paolo Mazza to face SPAL this Saturday and if you had the chance to check a good betting guide ahead of this clash, you would know Juve were heavy favorites to leave the pitch victorious. SPAL, who are in the last place in the Serie A table, gave a good fight to the Bianconeri throughout the entire game, but ended up handing the 3 points to the visitors, thanks to a goal from Cristiano Ronaldo in the first half and another from Aaron Ramsey in the second half. With today's goal, Ronaldo has now extended his goalscoring streak in the league to 11 consecutive games and if he ends up scoring in his next game in the Serie A, he will break Gabriel Batistuta's and Fabio Quagliarella's scoring streak all-time record.

First against last!

Sarri had to deal with a couple absences in the attack today, as both Douglas Costa and Gonzalo Higuaín couldn't give their contribute on the pitch due to recent injuries. Nevertheless, the Italian manager didn't rest anyone else and played a quite strong lineup in his visit to Ferrara, to face an almost relegated SPAL side, who still sits in the last position of the Serie A, with 18 losses in 25 games.

This Saturday, Sarri benched Buffon once more in order to play with Szczesny in goal, and then relied on the Brazilians Alex Sandro and Danilo as fullbacks, next to Rugani and the team's captain, Giorgio Chiellini. In midfield, Matuidi, Bentancur, Ramsey and Cuadrado tried to control the game for the Vecchia Signora and support the attack led by Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala.

Juventus started the game on the front foot and with just 5 minutes played in the first half, Ronaldo had already found the back of the net. However, his goal would be disallowed due to offside and the Portuguese forward had to wait a few more minutes before scoring a valid opening goal... It happened in the 39th minute of the first half, when Ramsey's great pass into the back of SPAL's defense found Cuadrado with plenty of space to run into. The Colombian then picked Ronaldo in the far corner with a good cross and as usual, the 35-year old forward didn't miss from such a privileged position.

Ronaldo extends his hot streak!

Ronaldo scored in his 11th consecutive game in the Serie A today and by doing so, he has just tied with Gabriel Batistuta and Fabio Quagliarella for the most consecutive league games scoring. This record could fall on March 1 though, the date in which Juventus will host Inter in Turin, in what will definitely be a huge match in this Serie A campaign. If Ronaldo plays and scores on that day, he'll set a new all-time record in Italy, completing 12 straight games always scoring...

The second half may have not been as good as the first half for Juventus, but nonetheless, the Bianconeri still dominated their opponent in most periods of the game and managed to score a second goal in the 60th minute. This time, it would be Dybala assisting Ramsey for a brilliant goal, with the Welsh midfielder lobbing the ball over SPAL's goalkeeper to make it 2-0 for the visitors.

SPAL still tried to react and thanks for a VAR call, they would be awarded a penalty in the 69th minute and reduce the visitors' lead to a single goal again. The Italian champions appeared to have everything in control though and wouldn't concede again in this game, securing the always important 3 points for the title race. Now it's time for Inter and Lazio play their cards too, as they only play this Sunday...
