Juventus 2-0 Brescia - Goals and highlights:
Brescia never posed a threat...
It was a calm Sunday afternoon in Turin earlier today, with Juventus needing to win in order to put some pressure on tonight's clash between Inter and Lazio and the truth is that the Bianconeri didn't have to sweat much to collect the 3 points. The opponent today was Brescia, a team that is struggling in the Serie A and is on the fight to avoid relegation at the end of the season. Stealing points from the champions in their own backyard was a long shot for the visitors, but the difference of quality on the pitch was just too much to go unnoticed and they didn't manage to surprise Juve this Sunday.
Sarri played with Szczesny in goal and a back four with Alex Sandro and Danilo on the wings, led by Bonucci and Rugani at the centre back. In midfield, Sarri played with Bentancur, Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey, who supported an attacking trio formed by Cuadrado, Dybala and Gonzalo Higuaín. Many rotations in the Bianconeri, as not only Ronaldo was rested today, but De Ligt, Pjanic and Matuidi also started on the bench. Chiellini also made his return to competition in the last quarter of the game, after having picked an injury in his right knee, back in August of 2019.
Today's 4-3-3 formation without Ronaldo worked quite well, despite the fact that opponent didn't create much trouble. The team pressured well all over the field and both the passing and movement on the ball was fluid. Nevertheless, the Vecchia Signora only managed to materialize their domination after Brescia got forced to play with 10 men, following a red card shown to Florian Aye...
Dybala and Cuadrado secured the win...
As if going down to 10 men wasn't bad enough, Brescia had to deal with Juventus' opening goal in the moment right after they saw Florian Aye leaving the pitch. His foul awarded the hosts a very dangerous free-kick just outside Brescia's box and without Ronaldo around, it was up to Paulo Dybala to try his luck. The Argentine star took it brilliantly and curled the ball into the back of the net to give Juventus the lead in this game.
The Bianconeri would still hit the crossbar before the half-time break, but Brescia managed to keep the result tight ahead of the second half. However, the visitors never really bothered Szczesny in the remaining 45 minutes and it would be Juventus controlling the tempo and the destiny of the game...
The 2-0 finally arrived in the 75th minute of the game, when Matuidi's backheel found Cuadrado storming inside Brescia's box and the Colombian player finished it with class, beating Lorenzo Andrenacci for the second time on the day. It was Cuadrado's first goal of the season in the Serie A and his second in all competitions, after having already scored in the UEFA Champions League a few months ago.
