18.01.2020 » Juventus 2-1 Parma. Two more for Ronaldo in the Serie A

Cristiano Ronaldo sends Juventus 4 points clear on the top of the Serie A

Juventus have beaten Parma by 2-1 at the Allianz Stadium this Sunday evening, thanks to a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo. With tonight's win, the Bianconeri now go 4 points clears of Inter Milan, who still chases them in second place.

There were no surprises in Turin this Sunday night, as Juventus played Parma at the Allianz Stadium and collected another 3 points in the Serie A. Following Inter Milan's draw earlier on the day, the Italian champions knew they had a golden chance to increase the gap between the two clubs on the top of the league and Cristiano Ronaldo made sure his team would get the win in tonight's match. The Portuguese star scored the two goals for the home side and not only he helped Juve grabbing the 2-1 win, but somehow he also responded to Immobile's hat-trick scored last night, who still sees him on the top of the Serie A top scorers with 23 goals, 7 more than Ronaldo.

Sarri benched higuain, but played Ronaldo and Dybala...

Maurizzio Sarri made multiple changes to his side ahead of tonight's game against Parma, starting with the return of Cristiano Ronaldo to his team's lineup. However, the Portuguese forward wasn't the only change in Juventus this Sunday, as Szczesny also returned to goal, guarded by a back four formed by Alex Sandro, Cuadrado, Bonucci and De Ligt.

In midfield, the Vecchia Signora played with Pjanic, Matuidi, Rabiot and Ramsey, leaving the attacking job to Paulo Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo. Once again, Sarri preferred a more conservative formation and avoided playing Higuaín together with Dybala and Ronaldo, despite the rising controversy about this option, especially when Juventus play weaker teams as it was the case today...

As for the game itself, it was Ronaldo's playground once more. The former Real Madrid, who had only scored 5 goals in his first 12 games in the Serie A, has already scored 11 goals in his last 7 appearances in the league. The Portuguese legend has scored in every single game in the Serie A since December 1 and if he continues at this pace, he may still catch Ciro Immobile on the top of the Serie A goalscoring charts...

Cristiano Ronaldo opening goal in Juventus 2-1 Parma

Ronaldo gave Juve the 3 points...

The first goal of the night was delivered very near to the half-time break, in a juventus attacking play that allowed Ronaldo to collect the ball near one of the edges of the box, cut inside as he loves doing and then finding a good spot to try his luck with a dangerous shot. Luckily for the Portuguese star, his strike got deflected in a Parma's defender and would go into the back of the net to give Juventus the first lead in this game. 1-0 for the champions which forced Parma to change their strategy for the second half...

The visitors surprised the Bianconeri in 55th minute, when a corner kick on the right gave Andreas Cornelius the chance to head the ball in a very dangerous position. The Danish striker, who had already scored in the previous league games against Lecce a week ago, scored his 7th goal in the Serie A this season and made Juventus rethink their gameplan for the remaining minutes.

Fortunately for the Vecchia Signora, Cristiano Ronaldo was on the pitch and desperate to score another goal for his side. The hosts managed to get back in front just 3 minutes after having conceded the equalizer, in an attacking play where Paulo Dybala assisted Ronaldo for one of his usual finishes. The Portuguese player stormed into the box waiting for a low pass and when he saw the ball coming his way, it almost looked easy for him to hit the back of the net in such speed. That's now 16 goals in the Serie A for CR7 and he's definitely going after Immobile in the upcoming months.
