15.01.2020 » Juventus 4-0 Udinese. Dybala puts on a show in the Coppa Italia
Few times this season have Juventus managed to win and control a game as easy they've done it this Wednesday evening in Turin. The Bianconeri welcomed Udinese at the Allianz Stadium and have defeated their opponents by 4-0, thanks to a brace from Paulo Dybala and also goals from Gonzalo Higuaín and Douglas Costa. To be fair and judging by how well Juventus have played tonight, it would have been easier to have won the lotteries in India rather than beating Juve tonight. With Cristiano Ronaldo left out of the squad in order to rest for upcoming games, the Italian champions showed professionalism and a great team spirit in today's encounter against a respectable side. Up next, in the quarter-finals round of the Coppa Italia, the Vecchia Signora will have to lock horns with either Parma or AS Roma, who only play this Thursday night.
Juventus 4-0 Udinese - Goals and highlights:
Consistency is the key
So far this season, the only team to have defeated Juventus has been Lazio. The Bianconeri have been handed two harsh defeats by the Romans, one for the Serie A and the other in the Italian Supercoppa final. Other than that, it's been a quite remarkable season for Juve, pickup multiple wins and a few draws in all competitions they're in. Today, Maurizzio Sarri's men played their first game in the 2019/20 Coppa Italia and they showed what the fans wanted to see. A competitive attitude and a big win against a good rival.
This Wednesday, the champions made several changes to their side, starting with Buffon replacing Szczesny in goal. In defense, Alex Sandro kept his spot on the left, Danilo started on the right and in the center, following Demiral's injury in Juventus' previous game, it was up for De Ligt to partner up with Rugani. The midfield missions were tasked to Bentancur, Rabiot and Bernardeschi, while in the attack Sarri decided to play Douglas Costa, Dybala and Higuaín. All in all, everything certainly worked as planned.
The first goal of the night was the result of a splendid play between Gonzalo Higuaín and Paulo Dybala. The Argentine connection was brilliant the whole night and after exchanging several passes in the 16th minute, Higuaín found himself free of marking and with only the goalkeeper in front of him. As usual, the former Real Madrid and Napoli striker didn't disappoint and easily scored the hosts' first goal of the night, his 8th of the season for Juventus.
No chances for Udinese...
Juventus didn't exactly slow down after scoring the opener and after earning a penalty kick near the 26th minute of the first half, the hosts were able to go two goals up. Paulo Dybala was the man in charge of converting the penalty and the Argentine took the chance to score his 10th goal of the season.
The half-time came in the blink of an eye and the score remained the same until then. Juventus were comfortably on the lead and it was Udinese who had to start taking more risks if they had any serious intentions of still dreaming with a presence in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.
However, it would be Juventus celebrating a goal again the second half, when Dybala decided to deliver the home fans a spectacular moment at the Allianz stadium. The 26-year old found himself near the edge of the box and managed to curl the ball into the top corner, making it 3-0 for the Bianconeri. Either assisting or scoring, the Argentine has been absolutely decisive for the Italian champions this season.
The last goal of the night came, once again, from the penalty spot. This time, however, Dybala gave his attacking partner Douglas Costa the chance to also add his name to the scoresheet and the Brazilian made sure the goalkeeper wouldn't have a chance to stop his shot, perfectly picking one of the low corners to make it 4-0 for Juventus.
