06.01.2020 » Juventus 4-0 Cagliari. Ronaldo welcomes 2020 with a hat-trick!
The first game of the year for Juventus gave the Vecchia Signora fans plenty of reasons to be optimistic about the rest of the season. The Italian champions made easy work of Cagliari this afternoon, beating the Rossoblu by 4-0 and putting more pressure on Inter Milan. The man of the match was clearly Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored his first hat-trick of the season for Juve and is now only 6 goals behind Lazio's Ciro Immobile, on the top of the Serie A topscorer standings. The odds for Ronaldo to still finish as the league's top scorer next May are now similar to the chances of any of us beating the Portuguese legend in an online poker game. The Bianconeri will now return to action next Sunday, in what promises to be a thrilling encounter in the Italian capital against AS Roma.

All Cristiano Ronaldo actions vs Cagliari:
The best way to start 2020!
Cristiano Ronaldo has started 2020 the same way he finished 2019: scoring goals! The former Real Madrid forward has now scored 9 goals in his last 7 games for Juventus and if we ignore the frustrating game against Lazio on December 22, Ronaldo has scored in every one of his last 6 appearances.
The Portuguese made all the difference in today's game against Cagliari, scoring his first hat-trick in the Serie A since he landed in Italy in the summer of 2018. First with his right foot, then from the penalty spot and finally with his left foot. The 34-year old superstar is in great form at the moment and if he manages to keep playing this way in the upcoming months, Juventus may very well be the prime candidate to win every competition they're in.
This Monday and following more than 2 weeks of holidays, Maurizzio Sarri played a very strong lineup with Szczesny in goal, Alex Sandro and Cuadrado on the sidelines, and a central partnership formed by Demiral and Bonucci. In midfield, the Bianconeri played with Matuidi, Pjanic, Rabiot and Ramsey, while the attacking duties were left for Paulo Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo.
A second-half full of goals and with a Ronaldo hat-trick!
Despite a goaless first half, Juventus made sure their opponents knew who they were facing on the pitch. The visitors only made 1 shot in the first 45 minutes and it wasn't even on target. The hosts, on the other hand, had 10 shot attempts, but were struggling to create clearcut chances to score.
Nevertheless, the second half would bring us a lot more action than we had seen in the first half... It only took 4 minutes for Ronaldo to break the deadlock after the break and he did it by stealing the possession in a very dangerous area of the pitch, dribbling the goalkeeper and scoring against an empty net. The 34-year old forward never loses his focus and concentration so it's never a good idea to be this sloppy when passing the ball near him...
The 2-0 arrived in the 67th minute, but only after Paulo Dybala earning a penalty-kick. The Argentine player got fouled inside the box and allowed Ronaldo to add a second to his tally. This was also the 4th penalty-kick Cristiano Ronaldo succesfully converted for Juventus so far this season.
In the 81st minute, it was time for Gonzalo Higuaín to also leave his mark. The former Chelsea striker, who had joined the game just a few minutes before by replacing Dybala on the pitch, grabbed the opportunity to add his name to the scoresheet thanks to a good through pass from Ronaldo. He then cut inside just before striking the ball to the low corner of Cagliari's goal, making it 3-0 for the hosts.
The fourth and final goal of today's game was scored by Cristiano Ronaldo, which allowed the Portuguese player to celebrate his first hat-trick ever in the Serie A. As usual, the Juventus ace collected a good pass from Douglas Costa and showed his killer instinct in front of goal, beating Robin Olsen with a left-footed strike and setting the final score in 4-0 to the Italian champions.
