22.12.2019 » Lazio 3-1 Juventus. No trophy for Ronaldo...
The last game of the year didn't go well for Juventus, as the Italian champions were defeated 3-1 against Lazio in the Supercoppa final played in the Saudi Arabia this Sunday and are therefore turning the page for 2019 with a bitter taste in their mouths. The Romans, just like they had showed in a recent encounter against Juve for the Serie A, proved to be a tough nut to crack and create plenty of difficulties to Maurizzio Sarri's men throughout the 90 minutes of the game. Cristiano Ronaldo ended his scoring streak after 6 goals in 5 consecutive games, as Paulo Dybala was the only Juventus player finding the back of the net today. Lazio will travel home with the Supercoppa title and truth has to be said, they have deservedly earned it...

Lazio made a strong statement...
Lazio has won their 5th Italian Super Cup this Sunday, following a 3-1 win against the all mighty Juventus. As expected, the Biancocelesti made it extremely difficult for Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates, proving that the previous 3-1 win earned in the Serie A back in the beginning of the month, didn't happen by accident. The Romans, who are sitting in 3rd place in the Serie A, made a strong statement today against the Italian champions...
Maurizzio Sarri failed his first big test as a Juventus' manager, as losing a cup final is always a tough blow for everyone involved. Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the most experienced players in this team, has finally lost a cup final game following 12 consecutive finals without tasting defeat!
For today's game, Sarri kept De Ligt on the bench and played Bonucci next to Demiral just like in previous games, but for some reason the team's defense was far from being solid and reliable. Upfront, the Italian manager also repeated his attacking trio with Dybala, Higuaín and Cristiano Ronaldo, but once again, it didn't work as expected...
A fair result...
In the 16th minute, the Romans managed to grab an important lead after exploring several weaknesses in Juventus' defence. Lulic started by dribbling De Sciglio on the left to find the space he needed to put in a cross, which would then find Savic on the far post. The Serbian then picked a teammate in a better position near him and allowed Luis Alberto to open the scoring on the night. Lazio was in front and Juventus was forced to improve their game and react...
And that reaction would arrive when both Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo locked their aim on Lazio's goal. The Portuguese forward's first shot would still be stopped thanks to a good save by Thomas Strakosha, but Dybala was on the right place at the right time and the rebound fell near him for an easy finish. Juventus were back in the game and the half-time break was just about to arrive.
In the second half and after having already wasted several good chances to score, Lazio finally managed to regain the lead around the 73rd minute of the game. Manuel Lazzari cross from the right found Parolo head on the near post and the Italian midfielder was smart enough to simply deflect the cross into the far post, allowing Lulic to deliver a great volley finish. The Bianconeri were now in serious trouble and they had less than 20 minutes to find another equalizer...
However, the only team scoring near the end of the game was Lazio and Simone Inzaghi's men would strike the final nail in the coffin already deep inside added time, when a brilliant free-kick from Cataldi left Szczesny stunned and paralyzed in the goal line, making it 3-1 for Lazio. Better luck for Cristiano next time!
