21.09.2019 » Juventus 2-1 Hellas Verona. Back to the winning track!
Juventus hosted and beat Hellas Verona 2-1 this Saturday, but once again, the Italian champions faced many adversities throughout the game and had a very difficult job in holding on to the 1-goal lead earned right after the break. The visitors scored first following a great strike from Miguel Veloso from outside the box, but Juve reacted well and Aaron Ramsey managed to score the equalizer in his first-game ever in the Serie A. The second half basically started with the hosts earnings a penalty-kick and Cristiano Ronaldo made Hellas Verona pay for their mistake, putting Juve on the driving seat for the first time on the evening. The visitors then managed to create a few good chances to get back in the game, but the Vecchia Signora was fortunate enough to hold on to the 1-goal lead and grab the 3 points.

A lot of changes in the starting eleven...
Coming off two consecutive draws against Fiorentina in the league and more recently against Atletico in mid-week for the Champions League, today's game against Hellas Verona was crucial for Juventus to regain their confidence levels. Maurizio Sarri is still experimenting things in the Italian champions, which is perfectly natural given that this is only his first season at the helm of the Bianconeri. Today, he introduced multiple changes to his starting lineup...
It all started with Buffon replacing Szczesny in goal, and a back four in front of him with Alex Sandro on the left, Danilo on the right, and a new partnership in the center of the defense formed by Bonucci and Demiral. Moving a few meters further on the pitch, Bentancur and Ramsey were given the opportunity to start for Juventus for the first time on the season, playing next to Matuidi. In attack, Ronaldo and Cuadrado also had a new teammate to play with, as Sarri finally gave Dybala the chance to start.
With so many changes in the team, it was expected to see Juventus players playing a bit disconnected and struggling to create chances. The visitors, on the other hand, were keen to make the most out of it and not only they managed to earn a penalty-kick in the 20th minute (which they would miss), as they got to score the opener a few moments later, following a superb strike from Miguel Veloso, from just outside the box.
Ramsey and Ronaldo scored for the hosts...
The equalizer arrived roughly 10 minutes after the visitor's opening goal and it was delivered by former Arsenal midfielder, Aaron Ramsey. The Welsh player picked up a pass from Cristiano Ronaldo, controlled the ball with his right foot and struck the ball firmly as he looked for his first goal for Juve. Luckily, his shot got deflected in an opponent's leg and ended up going straight into the low corner of Hellas Verona's goal.
The second half started with great news for the hosts, as it didn't take them too long to get ahead of their opponents. Cuadrado's brilliant run on the right allowed him to beat his marker and get in front of him as he reached Hella Verona's box, leaving the defender in a delicate situation. Koray Gunter couldn't avoid the contact when he had already lost the sprint and the referee immediately pointed to the spot, awarding Juventus with a penalty-kick. As usual, Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up and found no difficulty in beating the goalkeeper to make it 2-1 for Juventus.
There was still plenty of time left on the clock until the referee's final whistle, but no more goals would be scored in this game. Once again, the Bianconeri struggled to control a game where they were leading and they were lucky not to concede the equalizer. Sarri still needs to improve the way his team approaches the game whenever they're in front, as Juve is yet to win a game this season for a bigger margin than 1 goal.
