24.08.2019 » Parma 0-1 Juventus. A good start in the Serie A!
Juventus didn't slip in their first fixture of the Serie A this season, as they visited the Ennio Tardini this Saturday afternoon and beat Parma 1-0. The 3 points weren't easy to collect though, as the hosts played a very competitive game and were always a threat to Szczesny. Today, however, it would be one of the most experienced players on the pitch who made all the difference... Juventus' captain, Giorgio Chiellini, scored the winning goal in the first half and thanks to him, the Bianconeri started their Serie A campaign in the best possible way. The odds for Juventus to revalidate their title are extremely favorable, but in case you're looking for other possible bets with higher payouts, we recommend looking into esports betting. Next weekend, there's already a major game in Turin, as Juventus will host Napoli at the Allianz Stadium.

No signings on the starting lineup...
With Maurizzio Sarri still recovering and unable to be on the pitch coaching his side next to his players, it was Juventus' assistant manager Martusciello who was handed the responsibility to lead the Italian champions in their first official game of the season, the opening fixture in the Serie A. Sarri was obviously in tight communication with his colleague the whole time, but still, today's game was a good test for his staff and his players.
It was a tougher game than what many were expecting. Sarri's ideas and tactics were evident on the pitch and particularly in the first half, but there's still a lot of work to be done in order for this Juventus side to present the consistency and dynamics they need to go after every title this season.
Juventus' starting lineup didn't include any of the new signings and not even Paulo Dybala made it to the starting eleven. The Argentine is still waiting to decide his future at the club and we might have news about his transfer to an English club next week. On the pitch, the Bianconeri showed a few signs of what Sarri is trying to implement, with high-pressure and a lot of passing while looking for spaces to explore. The Italian champions ended the game with 62% possession against the 38% from Parma.
Chiellini's goal delivered the 3 points
The only goal in this game was scored in the 21st minute of the first half, when a corner-kick from the right got cleared by Parma's goalkeeper just to the outside his box. Alex Sandro tried his luck by immediately shooting the ball, but he saw his strike going the wrong direction and deflecting on the team captain's, Chiellini. The 35-year old defender didn't hesitate and with a small touch he sent the ball into the back of the net and put his team on the driving seat.
The first half could have even ended with a more favorable result for Juventus, but Cristiano Ronaldo's excellent finish with his left foot got disallowed by the VAR due to an offside. The Portuguese forward managed to make room for his left-foot strike inside Parma's box and as usual, his shot was strong and well placed. Unfortunately, he was a few inches ahead of Parma's last defender when Douglas Costa made the assists and therefore, his goal got disallowed.
Juventus' performance level this Saturday went from great to poor and the second half showed us a more dangerous Parma side. The team looked a bit tired from all the attacking movements Sarri is implementing and the last minutes of the game were a bit difficult for the Italian champions, who looked anxious for the final whistle. This team clearly needs more time to assimilate the new manager's ideas, but the show already started and next week we have a huge game in the Serie A, as Juve will host Napoli in Turin.
