17.08.2019 » Triestina 0-1 Juventus. One final game before the Serie A begins
The Bianconeri stepped onto the pitch one final time before the start of the Serie A campaign and despite scoring just one goal, they finished their final friendly game at Stadio Nereo Rocco beating their opponents 1-0 in a comfortable manner. Cristiano Ronaldo was left out of Juventus' squad against Triestina, after facing a slight fatigue in his left adductor, which is why it was better to not put him in a risky situation. Nevertheless, the Portuguese international did train back in Turin for the Serie A opener against Parma, next Saturday. Manager Maurizzio Sarri also stayed back at home, as he is struggling with a disturbing flu which was very much visible on the touchline during the in-house friendly at Villa Perosa earlier this week...
Triestina 0-1 Juventus - Goals and highlights:
Dybala made a statement
It was a night meant for Paulo Dybala to shine and the Italian wonderboy managed to send out a message and reminding Juventus the mistake they were about to make for selling him away during to the final weeks of the transfer window to Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
During the beginning of the first-half, the former Manchester City's defender Danilo prompted a smooth cross that almost led to an own goal. Dybala's also created a good chance but saw his tap-in being refused, while Douglas Costa was also denied by Triestina's defensive efforts.
The opposition goalkeeper managed to gain control and make an incredible finger-tip save from Dybala's strike out from under the bar. Later, however, the Argentinian winger broke the deadlock when his individual brilliance allowed him to change the game.
Dybala received the ball on the edge of the box and quickly performed a fantastic Cruyff turn into the gap. With a defender and the goalkeeper in front of him, he managed to pull off an inch-perfect first-time chip over the keeper's head and into the bakc of the net.
A highly competitive second half...
La Joya sent a clear message to the club that he doesn't want to leave. The 25-year old celebrated his goal by patting the badge on his jersey and pointing to the name on the back. One problem that seemed to occur constantly though, was the poor chemistry between Danilo and Federico Bernardeschi, who were struggling to understand each other down the right flank.
A long-range screamer from Sami Khedira was deflected with Bernardeschi's poor first touch, but still, it allowed him to earn a penalty, as goalkeeper Daniel Offredi rushed out to trip him. However, Offredi did make up to his mistake with a phenomenal save from Dybala's penalty shot...
The match finally started to switch gears when Triestina started to get a foothold and Wojciech Szczesny had to make a very difficult save on Tommaso Coletti's ferocious volley.
The substitutions happened with the teams bringing on the other half of each squad's respective players. One of them was Aaron Ramsey, who finally made his Juventus debut, coming on for the final 20 minutes.
Higuain stung Offredi's gloves with a powerful finish after a smart one-two with Ramsey, but Triestina would menace on the other, rattling the underside of the bar with a magnificent turn and shot from the tightest of angles by Andrea Ferretti. Shortly after, Davis Mensah wreaked havoc down the left side of the pitch and also set up Demetrio Steffè to give it a shot at Juve's Wojciech Szczesny's gloves.
The final whistle blew and it was Juventus who were declared the winners as the Serie A champion begin their title defence with a trip to Parma next Saturday, August 24th. Cristiano Ronaldo should be back in the starting lineup.
