21.07.2019 » Juventus 2-3 Tottenham. Ronaldo scores in his first pre-season game
Roughly 10 days after the pre-season kickoff for Juventus, the Bianconeri faced their first opponent, Tottenham Hotspur, in a friendly played in Singapore. The London side appeared to be in a more advanced stage of their preparation for the new season and managed to beat Juventus 3-2 thanks to goals from Lamela, Lucas Moura and Harry Kane. The Italian giants' goals were delivered by Gonzalo Higuaín and Cristiano Ronaldo, but they proved to be insufficient to avoid the loss. Juventus' next game is against Inter Milan, on July 24 and you can find some good tips ahead of the clash on MightyTips.com. Just like today, Ronaldo is expected to be in the starting lineup.

New manager, new tactics
The first impression we got from today's game is that it's going to take a while for Sarri's tactics to be properly implemented in this Juventus team. The first half was particularly poor from a Bianconeri perspective, with the team failing to connect passes and struggling to create dangerous plays upfront. Things got slightly better in the second half but there's still a lot of work to be done before the first official game this season, later in August.
Today, Sarri started with Gianluigi Buffon in goal, who made his first appearance after returning to the club earlier this summer. The Italian goalkeeper was guarded by De Sciglio on the left, Rugani and Bonucci in the centre and João Cancelo on the right. In midfield, Emre Can, Pjanic and Matuidi teamed up and supported an attacking trio formed by Bernardeschi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Mario Mandzukic. Basically, the only new face in this lineup was Buffon, who isn't exactly a strange in this squad...
Tottenham would break the deadlock in the 30th minute of the first half, when a fast paced attack led by Son allowed Delle Ali to try his luck against Buffon. The English international saw the former PSG's goalkeeper blocking it, but unfortunately the ball fell to Lamela and the Spurs' winger only had to tap it in to give his team the first lead of the game.
A better second half
The 1-0 scoreline remained untouched until the break and with so many things needing to be improved, it was natural that Juve would come on stronger to the second half. And so it was, the Italian champions reacted well and got the equalizer in a quick passing play near Tottenham's box, which would end with Gonzalo Higuaín picking Gazzaniga's low corner to get his name on the scoresheet.
The Argentine's goal didn't reduce Juventus' intentions to keep pushing forward and a second one arrived just a few minutes later and it would be none other than Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese superstar had already wasted a few good chances earlier in the game, but this time he finished off a cross De Sciglio from the left like few strikers out there are capable of. The 34-year old certainly hopes to start the season in the best possible way and by doing so, improving his chances to win the upcoming Ballon d'Or award.
However, Tottenham aren't an ordinary team and there's a reason why they reached the UEFA Champions League final last season. The European vice-champions grabbed the equalizer in the 65th minute, when Lucas Moura escaped De Sciglio's marking and beat Szczesny with a deflection just a few meters away from the goal line. Spurs winning goal was then scored by Harry Kane, as the 25-year old surprised everyone and scored from near the halfway line. A splendid goal from the English forward, who caught Szczesny distracted and lobbed the ball over the Polish goalkeeper.
