27.04.2019 » Inter 1-1 Juventus. Ronaldo rescued a point in the Derby d'Italia
A "Derby d'Italia" will always be an exciting game, regardless of both teams' forms and their positions in the Serie A table. Tonight, the two sides respected the tradition and delivered the fans a competitive and intense box-to-box game. Inter were clearly the better side in the first half and that allowed them to head to the locker room with a 1-goal lead. Juventus, on the other hand and against what almost every sports betting site in the UK had predicted ahead of this game, only seemed to really have stepped onto the pitch after the break. The Vecchia Signora managed to shock their opponents with a goal from Cristiano Ronaldo in the 62nd minute that tied the game 1-1. It was Cristiano Ronaldo's 20th goal in the Serie A this season and also his 600th career goal!

All Cristiano Ronaldo actions vs Inter:
Inter dominated the first half...
Juventus repeated the same starting eleven that played against Fiorentina last week, which is something rarely seen from Massimiliano Allegri. Ronaldo was once again the main reference in attack, as the Italian champions packed their midfield with the likes of Emre Can, Matuidi, Pjanic, Cuadrado and Bernardeschi. In defence, Alex Sandro and João Cancelo played on the wings, while the captain Chiellini and Bonucci guarded the fortress. The last man to beat was Szczesny.
The atmosphere for this game was great and you could get a small taste of these clubs' rivalry by looking at the message the home fans prepared for Juventus players. They presented a big UEFA Champions League banner together with a message saying "Game Over". It's a wound that certainly still hurts in the Vecchia Signora and their rivals in Italy seem to be happy to remind them of their European failure.
The hosts played the first half with the same intensity and energy their fans had showed in the stands. They managed to push Juventus back to their own box and it wouldn't take long for them to "open the can". With only 7 minutes played in this game, Nainggolan tried his luck from way far out and got to score a spectacular goal... Perhaps Szcesny could have done a bit better reaching to the ball, but all credit must be given to the Inter midfielder.
Juventus showed their champions vein after the break
This was definitely a game of two halves, as Inter clearly dominated the first 45 minutes and Juventus took over in the second half. The Italian champions were left alive at half-time mostly due to Inter's lack of proficiency in front of goal and they would eventually get punished for showing mercy. Massimiliano Allegri's men improved a lot after the break and they finished the game chasing the second goal that would give them the win.
The visitors' goal was scored by Cristiano Ronaldo in the 62nd minute, in a beautiful play between Pjanic and Cristiano Ronaldo. The Bosnian midfielder assisted CR7 with a backheel touch inside Inter's box, and the Portuguese superstar unleashed a strong and very well placed strike with his weaker foot that gave Handanovic no chance at all to stop it. It was Ronaldo's 20th goal in the Serie A in this campaign and his 600th career goal in 801 appearances!
With this Saturday's goal, Cristiano Ronaldo got a bit closer of Quagliarella on the top of the goalscorer standings in the Serie A, as they are now only 2 goals apart from each other. With the title fight already over, don't be surprised if you see Juventus setting their focus on helping Ronaldo becoming the top scorer in Italy in the games still remaining. That would be a huge achievement for the former Real Madrid forward and something that would motivate him even more for next season's challenges...
