12.03.2019 » Juventus 3-0 Atletico Madrid. Ronaldo delivers another masterpiece!
In a nutshell, what we witness tonight in Turin was the main reason why Juventus paid 112 million euros to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid last summer. The Portuguese legend scored his first hat-trick for the Vecchia Signora and paved the way to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. Juventus ran over Atletico in a 3-0 win to cancel the 2-0 loss earned in the first leg loss. It's going to be difficult for anyone in Madrid to sleep well tonight, as both Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid fans will have Ronaldo's image in their minds when they lay their heads on their pillows. Even those who specialize in football betting tips certainly couldn't see what was coming in this very special night for Juventus and CR7, who will now wait a few days before knowing their next round's opponent.

It's a different chip and mindset in the Champions League...
The odds were against Juventus ahead of tonight's clash against Atletico Madrid and few would have risked betting their money on Juventus overcoming the 2-0 deficit they were up against in this second leg. However, and that's why so many millions of people love this game so much, we had nothing less than a magical night waiting for us in Turin this Tuesday.
Massimiliano Allegri started by surprising everyone by benching Dybala and playing Bernardeschi in a similar role. The Italian manager asked his players to press high and match Atletico's intensity and aggressiveness levels in the first leg, and that's precisely what he got from his men. Juventus dominated the whole game and managed to send Atletico Madrid against the ropes in several occasions in this match.
The opener arrived in the 27th minute, when a great cross on the left from Federico Bernardeschi found Cristiano Ronaldo on the far post. The Portuguese forward was happy to see it was Juanfran's who was in front of him and had no trouble in jumping on his back to make contact with the ball and head it past a helpless Oblak to make it 1-0 to Juventus. It was the first explosion of joy in Turin and the best was yet to come...
Sometimes Heroes don't wear capes...
They just wear number 7.
The 1-0 lead at half-time allowed Juventus to regroup and keep believing they could be on the verge of an epic comeback. They started the second half with the same drive they showed in the beginning of the game and this time they would be rewarded for their positive attitude even faster...
It didn't take more than 5 minutes for the Bianconeri to extend the lead to 2-0 and cancel Atletico's first leg advantage. This time however, the assist would come from João Cancelo on the right flank, but the finish was once again delivered by an extremely motivated Cristiano Ronaldo and yet again from another header! The 34-year old rose high in the air while marked by Diego Godín in front of him and Jiménez on his back, but didn't seem too bothered about it and placed the ball near the top left corner. His header was blocked by Oblak, but UEFA's goal-line technology immediately alerted the referee that the ball had crossed the line and Juventus had suddenly tied the round!
With everything back to square one, Juventus started playing a bit more cautiously and allowed Atletico to start having more time with the ball. Nevertheless, the Italian champions kept being the only side chasing another goal and the way Bernardeschi earned the penalty-kick call around the 86th minute of the game really shows how much drive and motivation Juventus players had for this game. In a moment of pressure like this, no one better than Cristiano Ronaldo to step up and take the responsibility. The former Real Madrid player hit the final nail in the coffin for Atletico Madrid and sent Juventus through to the quarter-finals with a magical hat-trick in a 3-0 victory!
