30.07.2018 » Can Ronaldo help guide Juventus to Champions League glory?
Cristiano Ronaldo brought the footballing world to a standstill this summer with his sensational switch from Spanish giants Real Madrid to Italian champions Juventus. Despite being 33 years of age and having been at the top of the sport so long in his illustrious career, the Turin club have splashed out a mammoth £100 million to secure his services in what is undoubtedly the deal of the summer transfer window. With Ronaldo now taking his place within a highly talented and star-studded Juventus squad, the Serie A titans are hoping they can go all the way in Europe's elite club competition this coming season.
Cristiano Ronaldo - First day in Juventus:
The Portugal international captain entered the recent 2018 World Cup on Russian soil on the back of an incredible three straight successful seasons with Real Madrid in the Champions League. He was the key component as Los Blancos made history by lifting the trophy in three consecutive campaigns, a feat that looks unlikely of ever being replicated in the sport.
'The Old Lady' are now in a strong position to challenge for the biggest prize in European football, with Ronaldo set to join up with a host of other top names within the roster ahead of the new term in Italy.
Ronaldo now joins the likes of Argentina attacking ace Paulo Dybala, his international compatriot Gonzalo Higuain, Colombian wideman Juan Cuadrado, midfield maestro Miralem Pjanic, 2018 World Cup finalist Mario Mandzukic, Brazilian forward Douglas Costa and Blaise Matuidi.
Juventus clearly boast a sublime squad of players capable of going on to continue their domination of Italy's top-flight division and mounting a serious challenge in the 2018/19 Champions League as well. Plus, with Ronaldo in their line-up, anything is possible. Ronaldo is one player fans simply cannot leave out when assembling their fantasy football teams for the new season, while many other Juve stars should be included in there, too!
Juve have rallied to seven straight Serie A crowns in recent years and now have arguably the best player in the world, or of all time, within their ranks in order to help further that superb run towards a decade of domination.
Meanwhile, in Europe, they last fought their way to the Champions League final back in 2015, with their most recent victory outright in the competition coming back in 1996. Before that, their maiden success in Europe was in 1985. That could all change in the coming seasons after Ronaldo put pen to paper on a long-term deal with the club, boosting their chances of once again reaching the pinnacle of Europe.
The Portuguese goal-scoring sensation is the highest all-time hitman in the Champions League after his eye-catching performances for Real Madrid in recent campaigns.
Following nearly ten years under Sir Alex Ferguson, Ronaldo now has a new challenge ahead of him in Italy.
If the scoring ace can fire Juve towards further league triumphs and help them end their long-standing wait for European glory, he may well go down as the greatest player in history.
