14.02.2018 » Real Madrid 3-1 PSG. Never underestimate the heart of a champion
It's the match that's has been the subject of most conversations surrounding Real Madrid for the past few months and while most Madrid fans went into the game fearful, the result tonight will have every fan screaming "Hala Madrid y Nada Mas" at the top of their lungs. A 3-1 result over a PSG side that were surely confident coming into the tie is a brilliant result. Cristiano Ronaldo pointed the way with a massive double, while Marcelo struck the final blow near the end of the game. If there were any doubts about it, this game made it clear that the Merengues are all-in in the Champions League to save the season.

All Cristiano Ronaldo actions vs PSG:
What a game and what a result! Ronaldo was in his typical Champions League form scoring a double, one from the penalty spot and another from just inside the six yard box, as he reacted well to an Areola save.
But the match felt like Madrid for one of the few times this season. Marcelo was on another level as he was last season and they team played with a swagger and confidence that two times champions should have.
It certainly wasn't perfect and Madrid do have work to do. A 2-0 for PSG in the second leg would render this result entirely obsolete, but it's such a joy to see our team performing at the level we know they are capable of.
When Neymar's backheel fell to the feat of Rabiot and he finished in the first half, all hope seemed lost. But Ronaldo's penalty and the fantastic substitutions by Zidane in the second half turned this game on its head. Bale and Asensio were an unbeatable tandem towards the end of the game, their speed and quick play kept PSG on their heels and Asensio in particular had a major part to play in both of the last goals as he assisted both Ronaldo and Marcelo for their goals.
But the plaudits go to Marcelo for a vintage performance. He's been poor too often this season by his lofty standards, but today he showed the form that's made him such a menace for opposing teams. His goal in the second half was the perfect capper for a magic night.
In two weeks time however, we have to finish the job that's most important.
And as for Cristiano Ronaldo, the true king of the Champions League, it was another pair of goals giving him 11 on the season in Europe and 101 for Real Madrid in this competition, as he became the first player in Champions League history to score over 100 goals for a single team. He's also now scored in his first seven Champions League games of the season, also a new record of course.
