07.01.2017 » Real Madrid 5-0 Granada. A "manita" to tie the record!
It took no more than 30 minutes for Real Madrid to smash all big hopes Granada had coming into this game at the Bernabéu, as Zinedine Zidane's men found themselves 4 goals up around the first half an hour, with a double from Isco and goals from Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo. The final scoreline was set later in the second half when Casemiro scored the 5th of the day for the hosts and this victory, Real Madrid have now tied Barcelona's 39-game unbeaten streak, the largest any club has ever achieved in Spanish football. Now back to the Copa del Rey, with a new tie against Sevilla scheduled for next Thursday at the Sánchez Pizjuán.

All Cristiano Ronaldo actions vs Granada:
Real Madrid made easy work of Granada today, starting off 2017 on the right foot in the league. Before the game, coach Zinedine Zidane promised that Madrid would have the same intensity that they showed in the Copa Del Rey against Sevilla and Los Merengues did not disappoint.
4-0 after the first half, and 5-0 at fulltime. Real Madrid meant business and put away their opponents early. Karim Benzema and Isco ran the show, both having excellent games. Benzema scoring and Isco himself notching a double over the course of the match.
Isco opened the scoring with a low shot early in the match, after a great recovery from Casemiro. Shortly after, Benzema's sharp response after a low shot from Luka Modric was parried by Guilhermo Ochoa and would give Madrid a 2-0 lead.
Cristiano Ronaldo would notch his first goal of the new year next, his header from a Marcelo cross hitting the back of the net. Marcelo, who was brilliant again today, was a constant terror down the left flank for the Granada defense and he's been excellent in both matches so far.
Isco would score his second before the half and Casemiro would complete the scoring for Madrid in the second half.
It was fantastic to see Madrid take care of business early, it's been an issue at times, allowing teams to hang around for far too long and eventually creating a situation where they have to depend on the last minute heroics of Sergio Ramos to win the match.
Granada still haven't won an away game this season and Madrid are surely going to having harder games this month, but nevertheless, this an excellent start and the unbeaten streak is now at 39, precisely the record Barcelona set in 2015-16.
