17.10.2015 » Real Madrid 3-0 Levante. Ronaldo ends his 399-minute goal drought

Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcelo army salutation as they celebrate a goal for Real Madrid

Real Madrid have easily beat Levante by 3-0 this Saturday afternoon, thanks to goals scored by Marcelo, Cristiano Ronaldo and Jesé Rodríguez. The Portuguese forward assisted the Brazilian left-back for the opener just before he finally ended his 399-minute goal drought in the Spanish League with a good strike from outside the box.

It's yet another clean sheet for Real Madrid and Keylor Navas, as the Merengues beat Levante 3-0 at the Santiago Bernabéu and move up to the top of La Liga standings as they wait for Villarreal's game tomorrow morning against Celta de Vigo. Coming off an always exhausting international break, Rafael Benítez's men struggled to impress against one of the bottom sides in the league but at the end of the day they still got the job done. The deadlock was broken still before the first half hour, in a good play between Ronaldo and Marcelo which the Brazilian finished off with class. Ronaldo would find the back of the net just a few minutes after and Jesé would seal the deal later in the second half, after a quick dribble and a strong left-footed shot. Next is PSG for the UEFA Champions League matchday 3...

All Cristiano Ronaldo actions vs Levante:

After being hit severely with the injury bug over the international break, Real Madrid finally gave their supporters some good news with a fairly comfortable 3-0 victory over Levante. The Merengues returned to winning ways with goals from Marcelo, Cristiano Ronaldo and substitute Jesé.

For Ronaldo, it was an historic day, as he overtook Raúl (officially) as the leading scorer in Real Madrid's history, finally breaking his five game scoring drought.

But before he scored his goal, he would play the role of provider, setting up Marcelo for the opener in the 27th minute. Breaking down the left flank, Marcelo and Ronaldo combined with an intricate one-two into the box. The Brazilian left back controlled the ball with his right foot and then blasted in past the near post with his left.

Soon after, Real Madrid would double their lead. After some good work through the middle by Toni Kroos, he found Ronaldo outside the box. The Real Madrid forward then hit a trademark swerving strike into the corner of the net, before peeling off to complete his trademark celebration.

Levante would have some chances of their own, but Keylor Navas would stand as tall as he has all season long, keeping the Valencia side at bay. Late in the first half, there would be an injury scare for Ronaldo as he went down clutching his left leg, but thankfully, CR7 would return in the second leg as Madrid kept pressing on and in chase of another goal.

The second half would only see one additional goal though, as Jese's brilliant dribbling bamboozled the Levante defense. The Spanish forward finished off his chance exemplarily and sent the ball into the roof of the net, as Real Madrid wrote Levante off for good from this match.

A few observations from today's clash. Jese looked fantastic when he came on - full of speed, quick runs and good decisions. Good of him to get on the scoresheet, as he should now fill in for the injured Benzema well. Electrifying performance from the youngster. Navas was again superb, his reflexes and his decision making have been top notch all year. Seems he has easily put this summer's distractions in the past. Casemiro was solid in midfield, building off his performance at the Calderon in the last matchday. The Brazilian provided adequate cover for the back four.
