14.07.2014 » Real Madrid pre-season schedule for 2014-2015
There's no need to start getting depressed now that the World Cup is over, since the pre-season for most of the European clubs has either already started by now, or will soon begin. The new European champions Real Madrid, initiated the preparation for the upcoming 2014-15 season this Monday in Valdebebas, even though they've had to do it without most of the first team's key players. The likes of Sergio Ramos, Modric or Cristiano Ronaldo for example, are set to only join the team trainings on July 21, as they've been given a 4-week vacation break following their National Teams' elimination at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The Merengues, favourites for La Liga this year with Betfair, will have to go through a very busy pre-season schedule in the weeks ahead, since not only they already have 5 to 6 friendlies in their agenda, but they'll also have to dispute the European Super Cup on August 12 against Sevilla and then, just one week later, the Spanish Super Cup against Atletico Madrid on August 20 and August 27.
Real Madrid - Cristiano Ronaldo: season 2014-2015:
The Merengues pre-season in 2014-2015 will include a tour through 3 different countries. It all starts in Spain (Madrid), with the first works kicking off on July 14. However, the group will still be very short by then, since most of the players that have been involved in the World Cup will be enjoying an additional vacation period. The list of athletes summoned for the first day of Real Madrid's pre-season is as follows: Diego López, Jesús Fernández, Carvajal, Arbeloa, Nacho, Illarramendi, Isco, Casemiro, Gareth Bale and Fábio Coentrão.

On July 21, Real Madrid flies over to the United States and that's precisely when players like Cristiano Ronaldo or Xabi Alonso are expected to join the club's entourage. Their first pre-season friendly game is on July 26, as they take on Inter Milan in the opening match of the Guinness International Champions Cup, at the California Memorial stadium.
Three days later, on July 29, it's time for the Merengues to face AS Roma in Dallas, at the Cotton Bowl stadium. In any case, the biggest friendly game of the tournament was saved for August 2, with an always exciting Real Madrid vs Manchester United being held at the Michigan stadium, in Ann Arbor. Two days later and depending on the results achieved until then, Real Madrid might have to play in the final of this ICC tournament at the Sun Life stadium, in Miami. Their opponent on that game could be either Manchester City, Liverpool, AC Milan or Olympiakos.
After their journey in the United States, Real Madrid will then travel back to Madrid in order to ultimate the preparations for the first official game of the season. The Merengues will lock horns with Sevilla in a UEFA Super Cup final hosted in Cardiff (Wales), in a match scheduled for August 12. Either before or after that game, Real Madrid is expected to play another friendly game against River Plate, in the annual Santiago Bernabéu trophy match. No date was yet announced for that game though...
On August 16, Real Madrid will land in Warsaw, Poland, where they will face Fiorentina in what will probably be their last test of the 2014-15 pre-season. Just four days later (August 20), the Merengues will measure up against Atletico Madrid for the Spanish Super Cup first leg. They meet against a week later (August 27) for the return leg, in order to decide who takes home the first Spanish trophy of the season...
