02.06.2014 » A look at the Portuguese Team hotel and headquarters in Brazil
Paulo Bento and his 23-man squad list picked to represent Portugal in the upcoming World Cup in Brazil, have taken a flight to the United States earlier today in order to ultimate the preparation for this summer's big tournament. The Portuguese Team will face Mexico on a friendly on June 6 in Boston and then the Republic of Ireland in New Jersey, on June 10. After those 2 matches, Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates will travel to the state of São Paulo on June 11, as they are expected to arrive in Campinas later that day and set base on a luxurious hotel resort (the "Royal Palm Plaza Resort"). Their first game in the World Cup takes place on June 16 and it's immediately against one of the strongest candidates to win the tournament, the all-mighty Germany. Their other two opponents in the World Cup's Group G are the USA and Ghana.
Portugal head-quarters: The "Royal Palm Plaza Resort" in Campinas, Brazil:
A Brazilian journalist from "GlobeEsporte" recently had the privilege of spending two days in the Royal Palm Plaza Resort in Campinas, precisely with the objective of reporting his detailed experience in what will be the Portuguese National Team headquarters during their FIFA World Cup adventure over this summer. With the team's arrival scheduled only for June 11, everyone at this magnificent hotel resort is already set to welcome Paulo Bento, Cristiano Ronaldo and the rest of the Portuguese entourage with the traditional Brazilian hospitality. Let's then hear some of the impressions shared by Murilo Borges, the "GloboEsporte" reporter.
Murilo Borges: "The rooms couldn't be more luxurious. The whole resort provides numerous options for its guests to have fun and relax. Their food services are also top quality as well. Moreover, their infrastructures are very well planned as they do grant a maximum level of privacy for those who don't want to be disturbed", started by pointing out the journalist, who was visibly overwhelmed with the conditions the resort offered him during his stay.
The Brazilian reporter also revealed that the hotel already has prepared a special plan to provide the Portuguese National Team members and its whole staff the most privacy possible from the moment they arrive. It will all start during the check-in process, where the Portuguese group is going to receive a special VIP treatment from the hotel services, in order to avoid unnecessary waiting periods.
One of the most awaited impressions concerned the experience inside the rooms. Judging from the words used by Murilo Borges, it doesn't seem likely that any of the Portuguese stars in Campinas will have any reason to become unsatisfied during their stay...
Murilo Borges: "Shortly after I got into my room, I noticed the famous pillows with scents, from lavender to chamomile. They also got those mirrors that don't fog up at all and the beds are so big that an entire family could sleep there...", noted the Brazilian journalist, as he continued reviewing the resort that will become Cristiano Ronaldo's new home during next June and July.
In terms of noise, Murilo also confirmed that he virtually heard no sound at all coming from the outside, despite the many guests that were staying in the resort while he was there. The privacy issue is taken very seriously in the "Royal Palm Plaza Resort" and if what the Portuguese players are looking for is a quiet home to soften the pressure and crazyness that is normal to surround an event as big as the World Cup, then that's what they will find in Campinas...
This luxurious resort has also an exclusive heliport, a SPA, a big playground for the children, movie theaters and several pools. Moreover and particularly important when hosting such an entourage of guests as the Portuguese National Team, there are also several sports grounds not only for football practice (and which was curiously named "Society"), but also for other sports like tennis, futsal, basketball, volleyball an others.
