22.09.2013 » Real Madrid 4-1 Getafe. Backheel magic from Ronaldo
The game started with Getafe picking up an unexpected early lead, but Real Madrid reacted well and ended up beating the visitors by 4-1. Gareth Bale got injured during the warm-up session at the Bernabéu and Carlo Ancelotti was forced to keep the Welshman out of the game, picking Di María, Ronaldo and Benzema to play upfront in the attack. CR7 scored another 2 goals in this league, the first from the penalty-kick spot and the second with a magical backheel touch that sealed the deal in injury time. The Spanish League returns in a few days, with Elche vs Real Madrid taking place right next Wednesday.

Real Madrid 4-1 Getafe goals and highlights video:
Ancelotti's initial plans for this Sunday got a bit shaken during the warm-up session ahead of today's game between Real Madrid and Getafe. The Italian manager had decided to give some rest to Sergio Ramos, Modric and Isco, but after seeing that Gareth Bale had picked up a small injury minutes before the kickoff of the game, Isco got immediately called back to the starting eleven. Fábio Coentrão, Marcelo and Varane are still finishing to recover from their injuries and therefore didn't get any playing minutes just yet.
The opener was surprisingly scored by Getafe and still inside the first 5 minutes of the game. Cristiano Ronaldo held to the ball for too long, got clipped on his legs and ended up losing the possession to an opponent near him. The referee didn't blow the whistle and Getafe immediately took the opportunity to counter-attack while Real Madrid was disorganized at the back. Getafe's number 7 Lafita was given enough space to go forward a few more meters and saw his shot being deflected on Pepe's leg, as it went past Diego López. Surely not the best start the Merengues and Ronaldo could have asked, but there was still plenty of time to turn things around.
Real Madrid's response would arrive at the 18th minute of the first half. Angel Di María took a free-kick on the left, curled the ball into the inside of Getafe's penalty area and Cristiano Ronaldo managed to control it just before hitting the target with a right-foot strike. Miguel Ángel Moya blocked the Portuguese forward first shot, but dropped the ball right in front of him, allowing for Pepe to push it into the back of the net with ease.
After having reached the equaliser early in the first half, Real Madrid slowly started dictating the tempo and pace of the game, just as they like doing in the Bernabéu. They would get in front around the 33rd minute, after seeing the referee pointing to the penalty spot due to an handball from a Ronaldo free-kick. The same Ronaldo assumed the responsibility of taking the penalty and put Real Madrid on the lead for the first time on the afternoon. There was nothing Moya could have done to stop the 28-year old shot, as not even two goalkeepers would have been able to do anything in that situation.
The third Real Madrid goal came on already during the second half, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Isco showing off a great understanding and astuteness. As everyone was waiting for a free-kick to be taken on the left, both Ronaldo and Isco were standing near the ball, planning on how to take the set-piece. The Portuguese forward noticed that a couple of Getafe defenders were out of position and made a low pass for Isco to get on their back. The Spaniard midfielder found himself with plenty of space and already inside the penalty area, cutted inside and struck the ball brilliantly to the far post. Great goal from the former Malaga midfielder, who got to score his 4th goal in the Spanish League this season.
However, the best goal of the night was reserved to the dying minutes of the game. When it comes to magical moments, there's no better candidate to provide them than Cristiano Ronaldo. After a good combination on the right between Carvajal and Sami Khedira, the German international sent a low cross to the inside of Getafe's penalty area, but Cristiano Ronaldo suddenly didn't seem to be in a good position to make contact with the ball anymore. Ronaldo's killer instinct and improvisation capabilities came to surface though and he pulled off a superb backheel touch, as he rotated his body to adjust the trajectory of the deflection. Definitely one of the best goals of CR7's career, just a few days after he has also scored a terrific goal against Galatasaray.
