17.04.2012 » Bayern Munich 2-1 Real Madrid. Decision delayed to the Bernabéu
Nothing was decided in Munich last night, as Real Madrid visited Bayern Munich and got defeated by 2-1 in the UEFA Champions League first leg. The German side ended imposing their law in the Allianz Arena, thanks to a late winning goal scored by their "Panzer", Mario Gomez. The Merengues were never able to play their usual football and got penalized with a harsh but not decisive loss. Franck Ribery with the opener and Mesut Ozil after an assist from Cristiano Ronaldo, were the remaining goal scorers of the night. The second leg will now take place next week in the Santiago Bernabéu, on the 25th of April. A 1-0 result will suffice for Real Madrid to book a place in the UEFA Champions League final.

Bayern Munich 2-1 Real Madrid highlights:
No one doubted this game wasn't going to be easy for Real Madrid, specially José Mourinho. Bayern Munich proved why they deserve to be considered one of the strongest teams in Europe and showed the Merengues that at this stage of the competition, everyone simply needs to raise their level in order to come on top at the end. Unfortunately, Real Madrid didn't do it and left the Bavaria with a fair loss, but still hoping to pull off a "remontada" next week.
Bayern Munich knew how important it would be to score the first goal on this game and near the 17th minute, Franck Ribery made sure his side would be the one taking the lead. Kroos took a corner kick on his team's attacking left side, and his cross ended up rebounding into a very dangerous area, still inside Real Madrid's penalty area. The French star, Ribery, was fast to react and with a powerful strike he opened hostilities to put Bayern Munich on the lead.
Real Madrid tried to react, but Bayern closed down every possible spaces and it has been almost impossible to penetrate the German side's defense during the 1st half. The break arrived and Bayern headed back to the locker rooms knowing that they had done a good job holding Real Madrid's attacking force, since Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema and Di María weren't creating much danger.
However, José Mourinho's men found a way to score the equalizer and a necessarily precious away goal in a two legs semi-final round. Cristiano Ronaldo was granted a good opportunity to score on the left, but had an unusual left-foot weak strike that was stopped by Manuel Neuer. The ball rebounded to Mesut Ozil's feet, who immediatly passed it to Karim Benzema. The Frenchman then won some space in the area, before hitting the ball with his right-foot. The shot was once again imperfect, but allowed Ronaldo to still capture the ball before crossing the end line and assist Mesut Ozil for an easy goal. The Merengues finally scored their goal and how important it will be, only time will tell.
With the game quickly running to the end, Bayern proved to be the side that was more interested in getting the win. The Germans had several good chances, but Real Madrid managed to hold the draw until the last minutes of the game. Close to the 90th minute, Philipp Lahm picked up the ball on the right, left Fábio Coentrão on the floor after a great dribble and sent a deadly cross into Real Madrid's area. The giant "Panzer", Mario Gomez, showed up in a great position and deflected the ball into the back of the net, allowing his team to regain the lead and win the game by 2-1.
Bayern will now travel to Madrid next week with a 1 goal advantage, and José Mourinho certainly knows he will have to prepare a different strategy if he expects to surprise the Bavarian side.
